Edgar Herrera E is a painter, sculptor and digital illustrator who specializes in visual graphic communication. He was born in Bogota, Colombia, where he lived, studied and specialized in the “Graphic Arts.” He made a successful incursion in the “Graphic Arts” industry by actively participating in the development of high technology for the most evolved countries regarding the “Graphic Arts;” among the most important, Germany, in the city of Dusseldorf.
As a child, Edgar enjoyed with great naturality to draw, paint and illustrate anything he saw and liked, but he usually expressed it in his own communication concept, which is constantly evolving.
Over time, he was fortunate enough to study the great European masters of the seventies and eighties. Mainly in the most important European cities; such as, Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, London, Rome, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, among others. He also experienced the American school by exploring the art culture in both the East and West coasts of the USA.
He was greatly influenced by Dali, Matisse, Picasso and Miro, among many others, and by the European and American contemporary schools. He also followed Colombian and South American masters very closely; such as, Botero, Manzur, Guayasamin, being a dedicated follower of the master Alejandro Obregón and his vibrant force of color and shapes. By following a step-by-step tour, he started to define his own style without denying the opportunity to take chances and express his emotions in his journey through the emotional world of art and visual communication.
His art is characterized by a vibrant explosion of color, brightness and shapes. He studied diverse techniques and experimented with substrates and textures to evolve and communicate his feelings in an abstract, contemporary art of great color and strength. He also uses a monochromatic style, in which there’s an almost total absence of color. The artist handles different pictorial techniques; such as, oil on canvas, acrylic on canvas, structures on natural stone, and many more combinations that give great freedom to the viewer’s thought.
His work is mainly commercialized in the private collectors’ and custom-made markets. Now, with great motivation and expectations, he wants to humbly share and expose his work to the demanding critiques of the American market and to the rest of the world.
After visiting some American cities like Minneapolis, Chicago, Washington and New York, in the year 2000, Edgar settled-down with his family in the South of Florida, USA, which he calls his “Emotional Paradise,” finding a perfect balance between the small cities and the cosmopolitan cities, and having immediate access to Miami, which has become a mecca of artistic expression in the world
He currently lives and paints from his studio in the Coral Springs area of Broward, Florida. He became an American Citizen in 2011.
